About me
I'm Madeleine Winer, and I am a senior journalism major at Kent State University. I am writing this blog for a class called Writing and Rhetoric in the Digital Sphere, which focuses on writing online, web design, and other web issues. This semester, I became editor of Kent State's independent, student-run news website, Kentwired.com, which is working to combine all of student media's content on one site.
I am constantly searching for ideas to make the site more appealing for college students so that we can connect with out audience better. Therefore, I thought I would create a blog where I could post what design elements or user-oriented multimedia aspects I liked and could potentially transfer over to the site. I love when news sites make their content approachable on the web and hopefully, I can share those examples with you here.

About the blog
News By Design is a blog that analyzes how news websites are designed. Each week, I will post about what design elements I liked or that I think worked on a website. I plan to explore multiple elements of a site, including the design of its homepage, article page and any other special pages the news site has. I would also like to talk to and interview these web designers to see what plans they have coming up for their site as well as where they see news design on a digital platform going. I am also interested in exploring apps and mobile design to see what the user experience is like with different types of mobile and computer screen layout.
